Ecosystem Products and Markets Specialist, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

Robbie Coville

Robbie Coville is focused on mutually beneficial relationships between humans and the sources of our sustenance, inspired by philosophy and indigenous ways of inhabiting Earth. He holds an A.A.S. in environmental and natural resources conservation and a B.S. in natural resources management, both from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and an M.P.S. in soil and crop sciences focused on agroforestry management planning from Cornell University.

In Syracuse, New York, Coville worked with Alchemical Nursery on community-scale permaculture, which immersed him in cooperatives, forest gardening, and plant propagation. In Ithaca, New York, he worked with Three Story Farm and Edible Acres on farm-scale and homestead-scale agroforestry and tree propagation. Coville has expertise in tree benefits sciences, having worked on i-Tree Tools, leading research, development, and outreach about tree impacts on stormwater and air temperature. Throughout his life, he has served as a liaison, and since moving to Pennsylvania, he helped start the Keystone Tree Crops Cooperative and serves on the board of the Pennsylvania Nut Growers Association.

With his partner, Coville lives near Birdsboro and operates a small tree nursery, cultivates forest gardens and an apiary, and is grateful to work as a public servant for agroforestry in Pennsylvania.
